Adjudicators
- Mark Tanner, PhD, MA, FTCL, FRSA, HonBC
  - Mark Tanner enjoys a busy international career as concert pianist, composer, ABRSM examiner, BIFF adjudicator, lecturer and teacher. His PhD is on Liszt, a topic on which he has published articles in the UK and USA. He has written hundreds of reviews for 'International Record Review', 'Classical Music', 'International Piano', 'Musical Opinion', and 'Piano Professional', and for Spartan Press has published eleven volumes of piano pieces, alongside a recent volume of flute and piano pieces.
    
    He has edited four contemporary piano pieces for Edition Peters and Europa Edition and has recorded many CD's, receiving high critical acclaim in the major musical press.
    
    Of his CD featuring previously unrecorded piano music by York Bowen, Gramophone wrote: "Tanner's performances are magnificent." He has given 300 recitals on cruise liners and has performed in many of the UK's most revered venues, including five consecutive appearances at Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room and St. John's Smith Square, and has commissioned, recorded and broadcast a number of important new works. Mark is an FRSA and was awarded an Hon. BC in 2009.
    
    Mark has just completed a successful book tour at Waterstone's with his new novel 'Life On Mars? A Catinel's Chance', which was published by Llama Press in 2010. The book was described by Mensa Magazine as "a thoroughly enjoyable read....rattles along at a great pace....surreal madness....weird and wonderful characters....murder and myrrh ensue."
- Kathryn Page
  - Kathryn Page has given over 20 recitals at the South Bank and Wigmore Hall, both as soloist and chamber music pianist. She has toured Norway, Italy, Ireland and Australia where she gave seven recitals at the Sydney Festival and broadcast for ABC. At home
    
    Kathryn has performed at many of the leading music festivals and has given numerous live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 from Broadcasting House, St. George's, Bristol and St. David's Hall, Cardiff. Her interest in contemporary music has led to many world premieres including works by Gary Carpenter, Alisdair Nicholson, and Django Bates. She has worked with many established artists including David Campbell, Joanna MacGregor, and Sting.
    
    TV work has ranged from a live recital from Paris on CNN, an appearance on the Korean broadcasting network, several performances on Irish TV and a much treasured Blue Peter badge.Kathryn is the administrator for EPTA UK, the European Piano Teachers Association. In addition she is administrator for the Chetham's International Summer School and Festival for Pianists and the Manchester International Concerto Competition for young pianists.
    
    She lives in Cheshire with her husband, Murray McLachlan. They have 5 children ranging in age from 9 to 22.
Rules
- 1. Teachers, parents and performers are advised to carefully check the rules at the beginning of the syllabus and the notes below.
  
  2. In all classes a copy must be provided for the adjudicator before performing. This must be neatly presented and of good quality. Players may use a copy or purchased copy for performance, but a purchased copy MUST be available at the time of playing.
  
  3. Only one piece to be performed unless playing in Repertoire class or where otherwise indicated for younger players.
  
  4. Time limits must be strictly adhered to.
  
  5. The title and composer of items to be performed should be submitted at the time of entry. Please include opus numbers where relevant. Changes can be made up to and including 8th March 2014. Substitution of pieces after the programme is printed may result in performer not being placed
  
  6. Substitution for duet or ensemble partners may only be allowed at the discretion of the secretary. In the case of illness, only the originally entered competitor will be adjudicated.
  
  7. Own Choice classes are designed to include players of different standards. It is important to understand that each performance is judged primarily on the quality of playing regardless of grade of piece. Children playing at a very much higher standard than their age group may consider entering classes above their age group. This may be necessary in order to remain within the time limit of the class.
  
  8. Entrants may not enter more than one class of the same type in different age groups. For example an entrant may play in either Repertoire class 13 years and under or Repertoire class 15 years and under, but NOT BOTH.

Please provide a written statement of your standard signed by a professional musician or music teacher. The accompanist for the second part (not adjudicated) must be provided by the entrant. Please register your interest with the secretary by the end of November 2013.
